Bug List (ENT3003 Assignment 2A)

1. Professors scheduling for homework to be due during unreasonable dates/hours are annoying.
  • Why this bug exists? Professors seemingly wants to push students into doing assignments ahead of time and breaking the bad habit of procrastinating.
2. There is only one Culver's Fast Food Restaurant in Gainesville.
  • Why this bug exists? It is not a well known establishment on the East Coast as it is privately owned and operates primarily in the Midwestern United States.
3. The hours for the lone Culver's in Gainesville are usually from 10AM-11PM.
  • Why this bug exists? While still being relatively new to the area, it may not yet be feasible to be open for longer periods of time.
4. Wawa does not franchise stores, at least in the Gainesville area.
  • Why this bug exists? Wawa is privately owned and supposedly already has three Gainesville locations in development.
5. The three planned Wawa stores in the city of Gainesville still have not began construction.
  • Why this bug exists? There may be financial and/or logistical differences between the city and Wawa or just Wawa and the construction company tasked to build the stores.
6. The parking decal system at the University of Florida prioritizes on-campus students.
  • Why this bug exists? To better assist those who will usually be on campus more than others.
7. Having to wait at least an entire year to resolve the cliffhanger of an interesting show.
  • Why this bug exists? Builds the suspense and keeps the source material relevant during its down time.
8. Military members being paid the bare minimum to stay in peak shape and put their bodies/lives on the line to maintain the independence of their respective countries, while athletes do the same for entertainment purposes and get paid in the top 1 percent of the population.
  • Why this bug exists? Entertainment industries earn more than enough revenue to handsomely reward their stars, as opposed to what's provided to the government for its unsung heroes.
9. Military members (especially after service) are not recognized and/or supported enough, despite the consensus that they are.
  • Why this bug exists? Businesses and services use the "military friendly" tag to get more service, but most may not be financially stable enough to follow through with it; or they simply never planned to and used it primarily as a tactic to get more customers in the door.
10. Cell phones or other technology being used during a meeting, date, social gathering, etc.
  • Why this bug exists? Other than for emergency reasons, people in this day and age have gotten so attached to their phones and the apps in it that it's become necessary (and a bad habit) to check them more frequently than ever before.
11. Being more grumpy than usual when just waking up.
  • Why this bug exists? Sleeping is a form of recovering/relaxing one's mind, body and spirit so when that's interrupted then it takes a bit of time to adjust to being up and active.
12. Getting more hours of sleep than the average person, but being more tired throughout the day as a result.
  • Why this bug exists? Sometimes, sleeping more than what is necessary can be counterproductive and those extra hours of sleep may be draining the energy that was meant for being up and active.
13. When someone reverts to arguing because they are incapable of having a conversation with someone that has a different way of thinking.
  • Why this bug exists? Many people don't like their beliefs to be challenged and see it as being attacked since they aren't prepared or even capable to learn a different perspective while teaching someone theirs.
14. Many car repair shops' labor charges are like three times how much they charged for the part, when labor for most of these repairs take less than an hour.
  • Why this bug exists? Most people who take their cars into shops aren't capable or willing to fix their own vehicles so the shops usually try to capitalize on that and overcharge.
15. Superpowers and magic being teased throughout entertainment outlets but still not being obtainable in reality.
  • Why this bug exists? It is mostly meant for entertainment and for people to take in the values of the characters rather than yearning for their abilities that are science fiction in nature.
16. Meaningful and understandable lyrics are not valued as much in this new era of music, especially in hip-hop and R&B.
  • Why this bug exists? The new generation prefers to listen to better beats over better lyrics.
17. Law enforcement officers not knowing their legal limits and unlawfully detaining and searching civilians without the proper motive.
  • Why this bug exists? Law enforcement is very lenient on their officers, which makes them abuse their power more often with little to no consequences when they get caught on it.
18. Verizon has the best phone and/or cable services but they have a horrible tendency of running up your bill after you're already in contract with them.
  • Why this bug exists? They have the advantage of having arguably the best services there is, so once they get you under contract then they will start raising the prices for your package and/or adding extra fees that you didn't have to pay initially. The only ways to get out of these charges at that point are to take them to court (which is time consuming and wastes more money on legal fees) or to pay to get out of the contract, so that's really a win-win situation for them.
19. Calling to speak to an operator but you have to get through a bunch of automated services first.
  • Why this bug exists? Apparently there aren't enough operators to get to everyone faster and/or companies realize that it's cheaper to employ this method rather than hire more people to man their phones.
20. It still takes hours per session and/or multiple sessions to get a tattoo done.
  • Why this bug exists? New-age technology unfortunately hasn't focused on this area much yet to develop a better method than the tattoo gun.
At first, it was a challenge to reflect on things that "bug" me and write about them, but after the first five or so, it ultimately got easier to pinpoint certain things and jot them down. I feel like it was a challenge for me personally because I usually don't reflect much on those experiences and instead try to avoid them.
